ORTHODONTICS – Full Service Orthodontic Treatment

Effective orthodontic treatment will beautify your smile by moving your teeth into their correct positions eliminating any misalignment, such as crowding. Even malocclusions will be addressed through orthodontic treatment. Orthodontics may also be used to preserve a space for a permanent tooth to erupt if a primary tooth has been lost prematurely. Our practice offers full service orthodontic treatment, which gives patients the convenience of getting general dental care and orthodontic care all in the same location.

Give your child a head start

Ideally, children will have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 6 or 7. The first molars erupt around this age, so the dentist can assess the positioning of the teeth in comparison to each other and recognize the first signs of issues like crowding, “gummy” smiles or overbites, crossbites or open bites.

While a child may not be exhibiting problems with the alignment of the teeth at that age it still allows the provider to establish a baseline from which the child can be monitored to detect any issues that may arise that warrant orthodontic treatment in the future. Alternatively, if any concerns are identified at this first appointment, they can be addressed early with interceptive treatment, which often involves less complicated and expensive interventions than would be necessary if treatment were delayed by even a few years. Furthermore, certain developmental factors that influence the smile’s appearance, such as the rates of growth of the upper and lower jaws, can be manipulated more easily in younger patients.

Orthodontics treatment isn’t exclusive to just children.

We understand that there are adults who want to improve their smiles with orthodontic treatment and never had the opportunity to do so when they were younger for a variety of reasons. We are certainly able and willing to help these patients achieve their smile goals, as well. Adults can be good candidates for orthodontic treatment, as long as they have adequate underlying bone structure. Some adults may merely want to look better, while others may seek orthodontic treatment to get relief from a painful temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. In some cases, adults may need to undergo oral surgery in addition to orthodontic treatment to achieve their smile goals. If this is necessary, we can refer you to an oral surgeon with whom we can collaborate on your unique treatment.

Patients have a variety of options for orthodontic treatment, and a number of factors, such as budget and concern for appearance during treatment, will influence their decision. Your orthodontist can educate you about the various options in detail at your consultation, but here is a brief overview.

  • Conventional braces made of metal brackets and archwires that facilitate the movement of the teeth are the most economical and commonly used appliances. They require periodic visits for adjustments of the archwire to maintain the desired treatment progress.
  • Ceramic braces are less detrimental to the smile’s appearance, so they appeal to patients who don’t want their smiles to suffer while they are undergoing orthodontic treatment, particularly adult orthodontic patients who are concerned about maintaining a professional appearance. The brackets are made of clear materials, so that they are less noticeable, although they are still adjusted using metal archwires.

Patient Reviews

Dr. Nina is SO great–the best dentist I have ever had, and that’s saying something! My 8yr. old daughter and I both love going to the dentist. How many people can say that about going to the dentist. Her bedside manner is wonderful, and then backed up with gentleness. I have never had root canals performed with this little during and AFTER pain before. Completely impressed with this Lady, beginning to end.

Common Questions

If you are considering orthdontics to upgrade your smile, here are a few questions you may have:

The benefits of getting braces are numerous. Braces can dramatically improve the smile’s appearance by repositioning even the most crooked or crowded teeth. However, orthodontic treatment has benefits beyond the aesthetic ones. Braces can also be used to bring the jaws into the proper position, improving the patient’s ability to chew and speak properly. Additionally, braces can make oral hygiene easier, as it is easier to floss between properly aligned teeth than crooked ones. Orthodontic treatment also can protect the teeth from damage, as protruding teeth are more likely to be damaged by injury and crooked teeth that overlap can cause premature wear and tear.

The cost of braces will vary from patient to patient and will be determined by certain factors, such as the specific appliances chosen by the patient. Other services related to orthodontic treatment, such as imaging, tooth extraction (when necessary) and dental impressions will also affect the cost. The complexity of the case and the time spent in treatment are other considerations in the cost of braces. Your orthodontist can give you a better idea of the anticipated costs of your specific case at your consultation.

Many insurance plans cover a portion of the costs associated with orthodontic treatment, especially for patients younger than 18 years old. Our experienced staff members will work closely with you to maximize any applicable insurance benefits you may have. We accept a number of payment options, including cash and credit cards, for any outstanding costs that are not covered by insurance. We also help patients connect with low- or no-interest financing options for which they qualify.
