While your teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of the enamel to allow for a crown. From there, an impression is made which is sent to our lab where the bridge will be fabricated. A temporary bridge will be made and worn for several weeks until your next appointment.

When you come in for your second appointment, your permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted and then cemented into place and checked for proper fit. Occasionally the doctor may only temporarily cemented the bridge, allowing your teeth and the tissue time to adjust to the new bridge. Then the new bridge will be cemented permanently.

We will then give you instructions at the conclusion of your treatment on how to care for your bridge by properly brushing and flossing. We will also schedule another visit to make sure that the bridge is fitting and functioning well.
